Overview

BoS Wars (Battle of Survival Wars - http://www.boswars.org) is an open-source, real time futuristic strategy game. The resources in the game are magma and energy. Magma is gathered by Engineers or Harvesters from Rocks (+20 magma) or manufactured by Magma Pumps from Hot Spots (+12 magma) or Weak Hot Spots (+6 magma). Energy is gathered by Engineers or Harvesters from Trees (+40 energy) or Morels (+40 energy) or manufactured by Power Plants (+20 energy) or Nuclear Plants (+46 energy). Rocks, Trees and Morels provide finite supply of resources, while Magma Pumps and Plants provide infinite supply - until the Magma Pump or Plant is destroyed. More than one Engineer/Harverster can harvest from single resource spot.

Resource management

Both magma and energy (resources) are handled in a special way. There is a current amount and a maximum amount of a resource, displayed in format Current/100 / Maximum/100. Maximum amount is provided by Vaults, each Vault granting +10000 maximum energy and +2000 maximum magma. Then there are two more numbers specifying current resource flow. The format is +Add-Substract.

+Add specifies how much of a resource per second you are currently producing. For example rock gathering Engineer produces +20 magma per game second.
-Substract specifies how much of a resource per second you are currently spending. For example building a Vault spends 39 energy and 20 magma per game second. The resources are only spent while something is being build - after the building is completed, the spending ceases.

The result of +Add-Substract is added or deducted from current amount every game second. If the maximum is reached, the surplus resources are lost. For example, you if continue harvesting magma from a rock after the maximum magma limit is reached and you are not spending enough, the rock still gets harvested out but the surplus magma is lost. On the other hand, if zero is reached, production is slowed down or completely halted. Engineers and buildings will still look like as if they are producing, but nothing really gets done. However you can still start the building process. Canceling a building or training process wastes all resources spent until the time of cancel. You can assign more Engineers to building task, speeding the build time, but increasing the current cost.

Unit buildings, Vaults, and Engineers have maximum resource utilization rate associated with them. This rate defines the maximum spending of a resource per game second. It is 40/20 (energy/magma) for Engineers, Vaults, and Training Camps, 60/30 for Vehicle and Aircraft Factories, and 20/10 for Hospitals. This means Factories can produce units fastest, Hospitals slowest. Build time is therefore cost / utilization, taken from a resource which uses max utilization.

Finally, there is a percent number. This specifies how good you currently are at utilizing the plus and minus flow of resources. 100% value is best.
